M. Yolanda Freeman

I am M. Yolanda Freeman, Candidate for Dallas County Constable Precinct 1. I am supported by my family as well as my community. 

I have a combination of 20 plus years of experience in Law Enforcement, Education, and Community Service. In addition, my experiences include being the 1st African American female officer at Charlton Methodist Hospital Police Department. I also was a Computer Lab Paraprofessional  in DISD. My law enforcement career began as a Campus Officer in DISD. Later, I became a licensed Peace Officer. 

Currently, I have earned a Bachelor Degree in Theology Studies from Grace International Seminary, Arlington, Texas. My seminary endorsements include Christian Leadership, Christian Education, and Evangelistic Studies. Also, I received an Outreach Ministry Ordination. My personal development certifications include Life Coaching, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Anxiety Awareness, and Law Enforcement Technology. I am a Conflict Resolution and Bullying Advocate trained in Effective Communication, Emotional Intelligence, and Mental Health and First Aid.

I have served my community as a Deputy Constable at Pct. 1 in the Civil Department for 13 years, January 2007-April 2020, performing various enforcement functions throughout my tenure.  I was honored to be acknowledged as one of the "Monthly Top Producers". The Constable office serves warrants and civil papers such as subpoenas and temporary restraining orders, writ of possessions, writ of execution, writ of sequestration, collecting debts and fines and many other special community service projects. 

It is my belief, that Public Safety starts by knowing your neighbors. As a Constable, I will schedule safe community gatherings (in-person and online) to listen to your community concerns so that we can create and initiate solutions that will serve the people of Dallas County. Together we can create a structured communication path within our school system. 

I will request various training throughout our department and offer transparency. I will strive to be informed, prepared, fair and accountable. In addition to initiatives mentioned above, I will find innovative strategies to help alleviate community issues within the precinct. Using my knowledge and experience with Youth Free Inc. and Voice Unleashed Podcast, I will highlight, support, and assist the needs and struggles of our youth within our community and schools. 

When elected I will effectively communicate with the community as well as my staff and continue to build our trust within the communities we serve.
